Aardwolf Loop

Are you longing for a Karoo Roadtrip? Come and experience the road less travelled in the Karoo as well as some of the many beautiful mountain passes near Beaufort West!

The Aardwolf Loop is indicated as lilac on our map, as derived from the Karoo Crossberry. These small, fragrant bright lilac flowers are common throughout the Karoo region. Aardwolf are common in the Karoo, spending their days in cool underground burrows and coming out to forage for termites after sunset.

The Aardwolf Loop covers 402 km from Beaufort West, Loxton, Victoria West, Hutchinson, Three Sisters and De Jagers Pass.

Loxton has become a sought-after and almost trendy Karoo village, a place where artists can exercise their creativity and it is the ideal village to relax and unwind from the stresses of modern city life.

Victoria West is a pleasant small Karoo town nestled between two high ridges and built alongside the seldom-flowing Brak River. Victoria West is the home of Springbok rugby legend Mannetjies Roux and boasts some beautiful Victorian buildings.

De Jagers gravel pass will satisfy every cent spent on fuel locating it. It’s a farm road and leads only to other farms in the area, but it does offer many options to the adventurous traveller. The pass reaches its highest point at 1524m above sea level.

About 75 kilometers outside of Beaufort West, you’ll find Three Sisters, three distinct koppies! A stay on a farm or similar, in and around Three Sisters, provides amazing sights, a well-deserved break, veld and mountains for hiking, warm Karoo hospitality with succulent Karoo lamb  and lots of stories to take with you on your journey.

The Aardwolf loop will take you to the beautiful Karoo and you will experience Beaufort West, Loxton, Victoria West, Three Sisters and De Jagers Pass.
